In supporting you to achieve your highest aspirations, we want to ensure that you graduate from us not only with the minimum qualifications and experience required by employers, but that you become the best possible applicant

Our education programmes provide a means of developing an edge, not only through the acquisition of a gold-standard education and training qualification, but through involvement in cutting-edge masters-level academic research.

These qualifications serve the dual benefit of making graduates more competitive for aviation sector careers, whilst at the same time safeguarding additional career options during any future aviation recruitment changes.

You may decide to incorporate this course into your flight training to:

  • Support your competitiveness for aviation-related employment .

  • Ensure you have the educational skills necessary to support and lead aviation training departments, and to improve learner outcomes.

  • Participate in cutting-edge research to allow your prospective company to grow.

  • Qualify in a secondary career, if for any reason you were to leave aviation.

  • Use the bursary to part-fund your flight training

Airline recruiters publish essential criteria for each post. Applicants that meet these criteria then follow a rigorous assessment of their experience and core competencies to evaluate both their suitability to begin an aviation career and also their long-term benefit to the company.

Can you provide evidence that you ultimately have the potential to fulfill vital aviation command and training roles?

Our Education Programmes are designed to help provide that evidence, and you will have the option of specialising in both aviation and/or mainstream education subjects. Upon successful graduation, you will not only be experienced in instructing, but you will also be qualified to apply for teaching or training roles in a wide variety of sectors, at any point in the future, should you, for any reason, be unable to work in aviation.

This is Aeros

Established in 1986, we have bases in Cardiff, Coventry, Gloucester, Wellesbourne and Doncaster, and have an enviable reputation as the UK’s leading modular flight training school.

There are entry routes available for you, whether or not you have a degree.

You can apply to the CertEd course directly from the ATPL exams, or the other courses after you have completed the fATPL. The Aeros Group and the University of Huddersfield seek and encourage applications from under-represented groups in order to widen participation, improve access, and apply the principles of equal opportunities. Applicants with disabilities are under no obligation to declare their disabilities, but we are committed to making the adjustments necessary to positively promote equality and access for disabled applicants. Applicants are encouraged to identify any special arrangements they may require.

Huddersfield University and the Aeros Group welcome applications from those who have significant work or life experience, or from existing aviation instructors. Mature students may not necessarily need to meet the published academic requirements for their chosen course. As an applicant without traditional entry qualifications, you will be required to demonstrate evidence of your motivation, potential, knowledge and ability to study the course of your choice, and the University and the Aeros Group must be satisfied that your work or life experience is equivalent to the qualifications that other applicants will be studying.

How is the course designed?

During the 1-year course, you will receive lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops from Aeros Education staff and our Huddersfield University partners, and you will have the option to contribute to academic research on aviation education.

Irrespective of the specific route you choose, all graduates are eligible to proceed, through the Society for Education and Training, to gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status. This is the full professional status for teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector, equivalent to Qualified Teacher Status.

You will complete at least 100 hours of teaching on placement with one of our education partners and you can specialise in a subject(s) of your choice. All courses include the following units:
