Connecting Training With the Airline Industry

Becoming a professional pilot is about more than gaining licences and passing skills tests. It is about developing the technical ability, professional behaviours and personal qualities required to succeed in commercial aviation.

Aeros works closely with airlines to understand what they are looking for in the next generation of pilots and to help our students prepare for the transition from flight training to the flight deck.

Through training partnerships, airline engagement, recruitment events, presentations and candidate matching, we help students understand the industry they are preparing to join and the standards expected of them.

Our Airline Relationships

Our relationships with airlines take different forms, reflecting the different ways in which we can connect training with future careers.

From delivering professional pilot training on behalf of an airline to recruitment engagement, graduate opportunities and candidate matching, each relationship provides valuable insight into the needs of the industry.

For our students, these connections create opportunities to learn directly from airlines, understand recruitment expectations and engage with potential future employers.

British Airways

Aeros is proud to be a training provider for the British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy, supporting selected future pilots through their professional flight training.

Being selected to deliver training as part of this programme reflects the standards, experience and infrastructure that underpin the wider Aeros training environment.

Jet2

Aeros has developed a strong working relationship with Jet2, creating opportunities for students and graduates to gain greater insight into the airline and its recruitment environment.

Through airline engagement and recruitment activity, students can better understand what is expected of future professional pilots and the transition from flight training into airline operations.

Aeros graduates have successfully progressed into pilot careers with Jet2, alongside many other airlines in the UK and internationally.

Wizz Air

Aeros works with Wizz Air through an enhanced approach to candidate matching, designed to identify students and graduates whose wider profile aligns with specific recruitment requirements.

Rather than considering academic results or flying performance alone, our approach enables us to look at technical progression alongside the professional behaviours and qualities developed throughout training.

Suitable candidates can then be introduced to Wizz Air, which retains its own independent assessment and selection process.

Airline Engagement Throughout Your Training

We don't believe airline preparation should begin with your first job application.

Throughout the Aeros training journey, students have opportunities to engage with the wider aviation industry and develop their understanding of airline operations, recruitment and professional expectations.

This can include airline presentations and careers events, recruitment insight, opportunities to meet airline representatives, graduate engagement and candidate matching opportunities.

The airlines and opportunities available naturally evolve with the industry, but our objective remains consistent: to keep our students connected with the professional environment they are preparing to enter.

Developing More Than Technical Ability

Good examination results and strong flying skills matter, but they don't tell the whole story of a future professional pilot.

Airlines also look for communication, teamwork, situational awareness, decision-making, resilience, professionalism and the ability to learn and adapt.

At Aeros, these qualities are developed alongside technical ability throughout the student journey.

This gives students the opportunity to understand their strengths, recognise areas for development and build the professional behaviours expected within commercial aviation.

Aeros Compass

Aeros Compass is our student development and progression system, designed to look beyond technical results and build a more complete picture of each aspiring professional pilot.

Throughout training, Compass brings together technical progression with observations around the professional behaviours and qualities that matter in commercial aviation.

For students, it provides greater insight into their own development — helping them understand where they're performing strongly and where further development may be valuable.

For our training and Graduate Services teams, Compass provides a deeper understanding of the individual behind the licence and helps us provide more informed support throughout their journey.

A More Considered Approach to Airline Tagging - Matching

Every airline is different.

Recruitment criteria, culture and the qualities sought in future pilots vary between operators. The strongest candidate for one opportunity may therefore not necessarily be the strongest candidate for another.

Our approach to airline tagging, in the form of matching recognises those differences.

By combining the insight developed through Aeros Compass with our understanding of an airline's recruitment requirements, we can identify graduates whose technical performance, professional behaviours and individual strengths may make them particularly well suited to a particular opportunity.

Rather than simply putting forward candidates based on exam results or flying performance, we can consider the whole pilot.

Airlines retain their own independent recruitment and selection processes, but our approach allows Aeros to make more considered introductions and helps graduates identify opportunities that may be particularly well matched to their strengths.

From Training to Employment

Our airline relationships are part of a much wider commitment to supporting students beyond licence completion.

Aeros Compass helps us understand and develop the individual throughout training. Graduate Services helps students prepare for applications, assessments and interviews. Our airline relationships create opportunities for engagement with the industry and, where appropriate, candidate matching.

Together, they provide a connected approach to professional pilot development:

Develop. Prepare. Connect.

No flight training organisation can guarantee airline employment, and selection will always remain with the individual airline.

What Aeros can provide is high-quality training, professional development, industry insight, meaningful airline relationships and continued support — helping our graduates approach the next stage of their careers as prepared as possible.

Train With Your Career in Mind

For nearly 40 years, Aeros has trained pilots who have gone on to fly professionally across the aviation industry.

Our airline relationships continue to evolve, but our purpose remains the same: to understand what the industry needs, reflect those expectations in the way we develop our students and help Aeros graduates make the transition from training to the flight deck.
