The National Private Pilots Licence is a new development within UK General Aviation. Launched in 2003, it is essentially a slightly cut down version of the standard PPL with one key advantage: wannabe pilots no longer have to undergo the expense and restrictions of a Class Two medical exam – you simply have to persuade your GP to sign you off as fit to fly an aircraft. This is a distinct advantage for those who may possess a medical condition such as diabetes, which under normal PPL rules would prevent them from flying. The NPPL course is also slightly less rigorous and cheaper although there are a few restrictions such as the fact that you are not allowed to fly outside UK airspace boundaries (i.e. no Channel hopping) and that the maximum weight of your aircraft must not exceed 2000kgs.

The NPPL course at Aeros is a 32-hour flying package also including all home-based landings, briefings and seven written tests. Please note that 32 hours is a minimum requirement – you will be released to test according to your abilities. The NPPL package is priced at
£4500.

All prices are inclusive of VAT at 17.5%. Charge time is calculated as airborne time plus 10 minutes. Landing Fees are additional at current rates (except for Trial Lessons). Inclusive Courses include landings. Away landings and approaches will be charged extra at cost. Prices correct at creation time but may vary slightly with inflation and fuel rates. All subject to Aeros terms and conditions E&OE.
