| The Instrument Rating is a six-week course consisting of twenty five/thirty hours in our FNPT II type specific Seneca simulator and twenty five hours in our Seneca II. We have found that this gives the optimum division of time on each to give the best test results. Like our CPL course, there is a maximum of two students per instructor and training is based at Gloucestershire Airport. You will need a multi-engine rating to commence the multi-engine instrument rating. You can either undertake the multi-engine course in advance or at the start of the IR. For those not interested in multi-engine aircraft, we also offer a single engined instrument rating. The multi-engine IR course is available at a cost of £11,250 including all landing and approach fees as well as the 170A test fee. If you do not hold a JAA CPL or have not completed all requirements for CPL issue, you will need to add a further £675 for the additional 5 hours in the FNPT II. The price quoted does not include the test fees. The standard CAA IR test fee is £691 and you must also budget for approximately one and three quarter hours solo hire time. The flight to the test centre is used as an opportunity for last-minute fine tuning and familiarisation to the weather conditions of the day. The single-engine instrument rating for holders of a JAA CPL is priced at £8350. This includes 45 hours in a single engine aircraft plus all landings, approaches and a 170A test fee. For those without a JAA CPL, the cost rises to £9150 with an increase to 50 hours flight time. Finally, we also offer an ICAO IR Conversion to a JAA IR (either single or multi-engine). In order to qualify you must have passed the JAA ATPL ground exams. The single engine conversion is based on 15 hours in a PA28 . The multi-engine conversion is based on 5 hours in a PA34 and 10 hours in the FNPT II simulator. All tests are carried out at the local test centre at Bristol International Airport. It should be further noted that all prices are based on course hours stated. If you require further training it will be at published rates. |

All prices are inclusive of VAT at 17.5%. Charge time is calculated as airborne time plus 10 minutes. Landing Fees are additional at current rates (except for Trial Lessons). Inclusive Courses include landings. Away landings and approaches will be charged extra at cost. Prices correct at creation time but may vary slightly with inflation and fuel rates.
